Supplies of Fuel Efficient Cars Dwindle

As summer quickly approaches, gas prices have continued to increase, along with the temperatures. With these increases, the demand for fuel-efficient cars have also continued to rise. Unfortunately, the supply for such vehicles is short. Many dealers fear that by June supplies may run out .

Dealerships blame the low inventory on the massive earthquakes that hit Japan last month. Because of the tsunami and earthquakes, Japan will not be sending large shipments in the near future.

Nissan and Toyota dealerships have reported low inventory numbers. American dealerships have also reported similar issues. Dealerships with vehicles such as the Chevy Volt have reported running out of cars.

Authorities can't accurately predict whether this will be a short or long term problem.
