Fiat Returns to US

After being absent from the US car market for nearly 30 years, the Italian automaker, Fiat, is returning. According to the technical editor for Car and Driver Magazine, it is important to have Italian cars on the market other than Ferraris and Lamborghinis.

In total, 130 Chrysler dealerships across the country will be given stock of Fiat models. The model designated to appear on US roads is the Fiat 500. It is expected to have 38 miles-per-gallon on the highway. Also, the Fiat 500 will have the capability of reporting to the owner the amount of carbon dioxide the vehicle is producing.

On an economical standpoint, the option of Fiat returning to selling cars in the US also opens the door for more US jobs. One dealership in Texas plans to hire 10 new employees to cover the Fiat sales.
