Rising Prices for the Chevy Volt



As the Chevy Volt increases in popularity for car buyers, the sticker prices continues to rise in comparison to the MSRP. Dealerships are taking advantage of the highly desired cars and rising prices. The Chevy suggested retail price for the Volt starts at $40,280, but the short supply has inspired dealerships to up the price.

According to the Arizona Daily Star, Moises Paiewonsky, a music professor from Tucson paid $50,000 for his Volt. This is about $6,000 more that the MSRP for the car. Paiewonsky traveled to New York, which is one of the few states that received Volt inventory, to buy the car.

The Volt is currently available in California, Connecticut, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Texas and the district of Columbia. According to General Motors, the car will become widely available by the end of the year. For car buyers, this means the sticker price will drop down closer to the suggested $40,280. Keep in mind that all Volt purchases will earn a $7,500 tax credit for reducing emissions.

As of now, the most expensive Volt belongs to Rick Hendrick. Hendrick is a car collector and paid $225,000 to own the very first Volt offered for public sale.
